🌿 Quick Tips

1. Cover seeds with just 5 mm of soil — barely bury them.
2. Sow directly in their final spot. Hollyhocks form a deep taproot and resent transplanting.
3. Stake early. These stalks get tall and top-heavy, and a single windy day can snap them.
4. Water at soil level only — wet leaves are the main cause of hollyhock rust. Remove any spotted lower leaves promptly.
5. Let one spike go to seed at the end and it will self-sow for next season.
